Why I Do This Work
Small business owners deserve support that actually feels helpful. I’ve seen too many owners drown in operational processes, stress over HR tasks, or feel stuck with a website that doesn’t work, simply because they couldn’t find someone who speaks their language or respects their budget. That’s not how it has to be. I enjoy helping owners get clarity in their numbers, smooth transitions with their teams, and a website that finally feels like an asset instead of a burden. Meet the Founder
Joan Morell - Founder
My name is Joan, and I’ve spent over 35 years in the real world of business, not the corporate boardroom version, but the one where things actually have to work.
For 11 of those years, from 2009 to 2020, I ran my own business. I know what it feels like to wear every hat, make every decision, and lie awake wondering if the operations work or if the HR paperwork is airtight. I’m not guessing at what small business ownership feels like. I lived it.
That experience is what shaped everything about how I work with clients today.
I have a degree in Computer Science and a background in IT, which means I don’t just understand your business problems, I know how to build systems that solve them. My technology background means I can set up systems that work together, not just hand you a handbook and walk away.
Over the last several years I’ve focused specifically on helping small business owners get the back end of their business running cleanly. Books that make sense. HR that protects your people and your business. Websites that actually work for you.
I started Core Wise Strategies because I kept seeing the same thing: smart, capable owners drowning in the details they never signed up for. Operational processes that are outdated. HR paperwork handled on a prayer. A website that hasn’t been touched in two years. Not because they didn’t care, but because they were busy running their business.
That’s where I come in.
I work one-on-one with every client. No team. No handoffs. No one-size-fits-all packages. Just me, learning your business, figuring out what it actually needs, and getting it done.
I’m also a lifelong learner and a blogger, because I genuinely believe that when small business owners have the right information, they make great decisions. That’s why I share what I know, freely and without the jargon.
